A LOT. And before I have finished my morning cup of coffee, this can drive me round-the-bend before the day has really even gotten off the ground. So, as I'm trying to read the same paragraph for the 15th time this morning while he chatters away at me at lightening speeds, (how do people talk that fast??) about beyblades and icicles (no, they are not related, but somehow he manages to find a segway) I have given up on the 'if I don't look up he'll get the message' approach. I take action: I glance up at him and gently say 'shhhh,' but, when he didn't even miss a beat in his conversation but simply reduces the volume to a loud whisper, I realize that 'shhhh' means something totally different to him than it does to me.

So I laugh. The adoring mom in me trumps the quiet monk in me. I can't bear to silence that happy spirit. Copenhagen Anyone?

Our country is a mess. The healthcare bill is being crammed down our throats even though the American people have VERY mixed feelings on the subject and want to see and understand the bill. General McChrystal is trying to get the presidents attention because he needs more troops in Afganistan to win the war. Our unemployment rate has reached record highs. Our deficit has reached record highs. Gitmo is scheduled to be shut down by January, without any plan in place about where we should put the detainees. Iran is nuclear. Partisan passions are tearing our country apart. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. We're sinking like the Titanic.

So what's our President's priortiy today? Posting the healthcare bill so the public can read it? No. Addressing the war in Afganistan with some in-depth talks to the General? No can do. Channeling some tarp money toward the American people so we can get back to work. Nada. Finding ways to cut spending to bring down our deficit. Nah. Placing Gitmo detainees. Nope.

Obama's priority today is a trip to Copenhagen, with Michele and Valerie, Oprah too I heard, to make a bid on Chicago's behalf for the 2016 Olympics.

Er, WHAT???? He was an athiest who sought to write a book debunking Christianity. He became a Christian. I gravitated to this book because I walked a similar path. I became a Christian the same way.

The thing is, there IS an case for faith. There is a case for atheism too. After all, faith wouldn't be faith if God was as obvious to us as a tree or a rock. But my faith is definitely not blind! It is researched, challenged, and intelligent. I maintain that God loves an intelligent faith.

Athiests fascinate me (as do theists). There is so much passion to denounce God, to erase Him. I recently listened to a debate on the topic "Is Christianity The Problem?". The arguement in favor of Christianity was a man named Dinesh D'Souza, who opened with this thought: As unbelievers, why are athiests so militant? He continues to say that he doesn't believe in unicorns, but he hasn't devoted his life to debunking them, writing books denouncing them. He just lives his life not thinking much about them. But the current social trend is a beligerent attack on theism, especially Christianity. Why?

Believers have answers. Believers have explanations. Believers know how life started, the origins of consciousness, the origins of morality, and the nature of freedom. Believers know how the first strand of DNA was designed, how the laws of science were written. God is a lawgiver, and the universe reflects His laws.
